How I learned to stop worrying and love the ClearDB Dashboard

Here at ClearDB, we boast that we are your “zero administration” option for Database As A Service (DbAAS). Our team of network engineers, MySQL experts and support techs keep you up and running 24/7 and leave you free to concentrate on your business. But zero administration doesn’t mean zero information. Pretty much everything you need to know to use and manage your database is available on your ClearDB dashboard.
If you use ClearDB through one of our partners, you can reach your dashboard by clicking through from your partner page. Our dedicated cluster customers can log in directly from the ClearDB homepage. The dashboard landing page shows a list of your databases with basic status information. Also on this page are SSL certificates available for download; these are the tools you need to set up fully secure communication between your app and your database. We also have a simple SSL tutorial to help you get started.
Each of your databases is hotlinked to the full console. The console page has Performance, Backups & Jobs, Endpoint Information, and Support Cases tabs.
The Performance tab shows you the most important performance metrics for your database in easy-to-read graphical form. You can see the number and execution time for all recent queries, broken out into read and write. And you can track your database size.
Backups & Jobs is where you can access automatic backups of your database, or create one at a time of your own choosing. If you need to restore your db from a backup, you can do it here with a single click!
The Endpoint Information tab shows you all the information and credentials you need to connect to your db. Our dedicated cluster customers can also see the status of the individual nodes of your cluster. If you think you’re experiencing a performance or connection problem, this is a great first place to check.
Finally, the Support Cases tab links all your open support tickets in one place. You can see their status, click through to them, or open a new ticket. We read every ticket within minutes of its creation, and our goal is to respond as quickly as possible!
Of course, the dashboard isn’t the only resource available to you. Our Help and Support page has tutorials to walk you through connecting your application to your database for the most common languages. And advanced users can learn about using our API to retrieve much of the Dashboard’s information without going through a web page interface.
